During the past couple of years I have been given the opportunity to do amazing things and work with some top athletes and teams.

Gareth Thomas: Tour De Trophy

During December 2019, I was given the opportunity by Simi Social and 5 Live Sport to follow Welsh rugby legend Gareth Thomas as he cycled 500 Miles from Cardiff to Aberdeen to deliver the BBC Sports Personality of the Year trophy. During this time I was tasked with creating online content for 5 Live sport social media pages, as well as filming and editing footage to be used in the main SPOTY show. A few examples of my work can be seen below...

Mission Slovenia:

A Cardiff MEt WFC Story Documentary

For my Masters dissertation, I had to create a 15 minute documentary. I decided to focus my documentary on the Cardiff Met WFC, filming the behind the scenes action as they prepared to compete in the UEFA Women's Champions League in Slovenia.

UWCL with Cardiff MEt WFC

Over the summer of 2019, I worked with Cardiff Met WFC as their Media officer, as well as create an array of content for their social media pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This work was all done in preparation and during the teams UEFA Women's Champions League campaign, as the team flew out to Slovenia to compete in the competition. The main aim for the campaign in terms of a media point of view was to make sure that everyone back in the UK was kept up to date with everything that was happening while the team was out in Slovenia. To accomplish this I created multiple features for the teams social media pages, ranging from pre-match interviews, features, behind the scenes vlogs and stadium tours. I also organised a club media day, in which broadcasters and reporters from companies such as the BBC and Sgorio were able to have interviews with the coaches and players, as well as attend an open training session. The experience is something I will never forget, with the team becoming a huge inspiration for welsh women's football due to the amount of quality coverage we were able to give them, as well as the team finishing second in the group, meaning that they were the most successful Welsh Women's side in the history of the competition.

Hearts of Wales Rugby 7s Offical trailer 2019

The Heart of Wales 7s Sports and Music Festival is an event that is growing into one of the biggest in Wales. Over 4,000 people were in attendance, with the festival growing in numbers every year. I was approached and tasked with creating an official trailer from the 2019 competition to show everything the event had to offer. The trailer includes action shots from sports such as rugby, hockey and even the welsh tug of war championships. This trailer is just the start of a promotional campaign that I will be making for the tournament as they build up for their next event in the summer of 2020.

Welsh Hall of FAme 2019

The Welsh Hall of Fame honours some of the biggest names in welsh sporting history, with some of the previous inductees including Gary Speed (Football), J.J. Williams (Rugby) and Joe Calzaghe (Boxing). For this years event, some of the athletes added into the Hall of Fame included Wendy White (Netball), Michaela Breeze (Weightlifting), Jazz Carlin (Swimming) and Steve Fenwick (Rugby). However, the big name that was added this year was Manchester United Legend and Wales Manager Ryan Giggs, in which it was an honour for me to interview.

Wales Six Nations

During the 2019 Rugby Six Nations, I was given the opportunity to follow the Welsh International rugby team as they won their 11th Grand slam title. During this 8 week period, I was able to follow the team by attending Press Conferences and watching the action unfold. I also shot a feature celebrating Wales' victory as they hosted a parade outside the Senedd building in Cardiff Bay.

Cardiff Met WFc

During the 2018/2019 season, I was able to follow and produce content about the Cardiff MET Women's football team. The teams performances and the cover we were able to provide for them got national attention, with the team winning the Welsh Premier Women's League title going unbeaten throughout the season, as well as winning the treble with victories in two cup competitions. With the team now qualified for the UEFA Women's Champions League, the celebrations started, with a particular clip that I filmed getting international attention on social media, going 'viral' in the process.

The clip was a brilliant not just the team but for Welsh women's football, as it gave light and exposure to the teams achievements and personality. During the season, I also created and produced many different features keeping viewers up to date with their achievements. This features ranged from match reports, celebrations and goal highlights.

Varsity 2019

Varsity 2019 between Cardiff Metropolitan and Bath University was particularly special. During the day I was tasked with producing a live 4 hour live-stream covering the football matches between the Women's and the Men's teams. I was involved with the Wheelchair Basketball match providing commentary of the sport, as well as the rugby where I was a camera Operator for the main stream. The male football and rugby matches provided the best drama as they both ended with last minute winners. This allowed me to create short videos of the action and scenes to go out online, where a few clips were successful and gained thousands of views.

Other Projects

Even though I've been involved in many other smaller project, one of my favourite features to film was when I caught up with E-Sports and Roma player Zac Moore. Creating an interview style feature while also having the joys of playing FIFA, a game I have played growing up, was really enjoyable and rewarding as I presented, produced, filmed and edited the whole feature. Plus the fact I was able to hold my own against a professional gamer was a great experience.
