How I managed to get to where I am now...

The Media industry and Sport has always been a huge part of both my academic and personal life. I have always been involved in the subject from when I used to watch sports as a child, to now learning and experiencing the industry first hand at Cardiff Metropolitan University. I grew up in the countryside of Powys, regularly participating in sports myself by playing for my local rugby club. After progressing through High School and Sixth Form, I moved up to Aberystwyth to begin University.

After previously spending three years at Aberystwyth University, studying film and television and creating multiple short films and documentaries, I started my Masters in the summer of 2018. Studying sports broadcasting has allowed me to learn the ins and outs of the industry, with particular focus on media law and ethics, while also focusing on practical roles such as directing, producing, filming and editing. The course has allowed me to create a vast amount of content for Cardiff Met Sports TV, the University's broadcasting team, during which I focused mainly on creating online content for the channel’s social media accounts and productions. During this time, I have produced online content ranging from short features, to player interviews, funny moments and goal compilation. We have even live streamed different sporting events ranging from football and rugby matches, to boxing events, as well as producing our own live show every Wednesday called "Up the Archer", in which I have produced, directed, presented and filmed. My University experience has taught me many different skills including teamwork, research, communication, and commitment.
